The wide Doric columns of the Lincoln Memorial serve to remind us of the grandness of the accomplishments of this president.  President of the United States during the Civil War, Lincoln is popularly known for abolishing slavery and keeping the U.S together during an incredibly divided time.

I took this photo days before the Trump inauguration.  There was scaffolding all over the front of the monument and visitors from far reaches of the country were visiting for the inauguration.

The significance of this photo depends on your point of view.  Though, few would argue with the statement that the U.S. is currently in an incredibly divided period.  The notion that history repeats itself, repeats itself over and over again.

How do you interpret this photo? Now that you know some background, what does it speak to you?
